Through continuous research to identify various types of infrastructure that can be created using local human resources and technology, GRID Nepal aims to bring into practice technologies that make optimal utilization of locally available resources to solve the problems present in these areas.
GRID Nepal always highlights the need of local youth participation in development efforts. So GRID Nepal always designs it projects and campaigns with local people's participation in mind.
Balithum, a small village located high above the water source at Gulmidarbar Rural Municiaplity, Gulmi District, Province 5, has high potential of agriculture however, due to lack of access of water for irrigation as well as domestic water, the people are living very difficult lifestyle with poor economy. Particularly, the demonstrated pilot project is designed to use solar energy systems (i.e. solar photovoltaic) for lifting water for irrigation and daily household consumption purpose in Balithum. The demonstrated project will reduce the CO2 emission and consequently this will have positive impact on environment. With the help of this project, locals could easily boost and increase the cultivation of seasonal vegetables and cash crops where demand is very high in nearby cities. Thus, uplifting the livelihood and economic status of locals of Balithum Village.
